I missed See Me Sunday because I was busy spending Mother’s Day with my kids 💛

But honestly… maybe today’s feature was meant to happen this way, because this boy’s name is Ben — and anyone who knows me knows I happen to have a pretty lovable Ben of my own!

And well… we also all know I have a soft spot for German Shepherds 🐺

So meet Ben — a 5-year-old German Shepherd who has been through far more than he ever deserved.

When rescue secured him in Brantford, he was terrified, painfully thin, blistered on his paws, and running scared. Since then, his rescue has worked incredibly hard helping him learn that the world can be safe again.

Ben is not a “perfect easy dog.” He’s a dog who has clearly lived through trauma. He’s timid, sensitive, deeply attached to his person, and needs a home that understands trust takes time.

But underneath all of that?
He is a gentle, loyal soul who just wants to love and be loved safely.

And I’d say her answer was pretty clear because at one point, she literally backed herself up and sat right on my lap 🤣

Safe to say we were past the whole “you’re kind of a stranger” stage today.

That’s one of my favourite things to watch happen with dogs — especially seniors. The comfort level changes, the trust builds, and they start to really settle into the experience.

Elsa knew exactly where she wanted attention today too. Even though we always work through a full-body treatment, dogs absolutely let you know which areas feel the best to them.

At 13 years young, Elsa is navigating some mobility changes that naturally come with aging. Her fascia is quite tight, which can affect movement, flexibility, and overall comfort through the muscles and body.

So today’s session was about more than relaxation — it was about supporting movement, comfort, and helping her body feel a little less restricted.

She is such a sweet senior girl, and honestly… an absolute beauty 🤍

Most might look at this and just see a dog laying on a table 🐾

But I see something very different.

This is River during her second session.

And what I see is a dog who has decided…
“Okay… I trust you.”

Not just for the treats (though the Benny Bullies definitely help 😉), but because she’s starting to understand that this is a place where she can relax, feel safe, and feel better in her body.

And as someone who has worked with dogs for over 25 years — those moments matter.

Because this isn’t just a dog laying on a table.

This is trust.
This is progress.
This is a nervous system starting to relax.

And that’s exactly what I wait for with dogs like River...

Most might look at this and just see a dog laying on a table 🐾

But I see something very different.

This is River during her second session.

And what I see is a dog who has decided…
“Okay… I trust you.”

Dogs don’t fake that!

They don’t pretend to enjoy something.
They don’t go along with it just to be polite.

They show you the truth.

That first session is always about introduction — new space, new person, new experience.

But the second session?

That’s where you get your answer.

Do they come back unsure… or do they settle in?

Meet Sam 🐶 — a 4-month-old “Manitoba mutt” (Corgi x Aussie x Husky mix) with short legs, a big personality, and a story that already proves just how tough he is!

This little guy came from a northern community and battled parvo, coccidia, and giardia — and won.. with the help of @satosavedeotldogrescue

After weeks of care and a whole lot of love, Sam is finally ready for his forever home.

Sam is a more independent pup. He enjoys his space, likes to do his own thing, and isn’t the clingy type. Because of that (and some early food insecurity), he’ll need a home that understands:

✔️ Resource guarding is being worked on
✔️ He needs patience and gentle handling to build trust
✔️ A dog-savvy home will set him up for success

He’d do best:

• As an only dog or with a calm, easygoing dog
• With older kids (8+)
• With dog-savvy cats and proper introductions

Sam has strong herding instincts and a naturally protective streak, so guidance and training will be important as he grows. The good news? He’s young, smart, and completely capable of becoming an incredible dog with the right leadership.

He’s not your typical easy, bouncy puppy — but he is a puppy who, with the right home, will grow into something really special.

Meet Maverick 🐺 — a 3.5-year-old Siberian Husky mix who’s been waiting far too long for someone to give him a real chance.

At about 20kg, Maverick is a smaller husky with a big personality (and yes… those ears are as cute as they look). He’s house-trained, crate-trained, walks well on leash, and knows his basic commands. He’s also treat-motivated, which makes continued training very doable in the right hands.

Here’s the honest part — because dogs like Maverick need the right home, not just any home:

Maverick must be the only pet (no dogs or cats), and due to a past incident, he cannot be rehomed within Ontario. He will need an experienced, firm, and attentive owner who understands northern breeds and is committed to structure and management.

The good news?
✔️ He’s lower energy for a husky
✔️ He’s done well in busy environments
✔️ He enjoys car rides and being with his people
✔️ He can live in a house or attached home with proper care

He would do best with older, dog-savvy kids who understand boundaries and respect his space.
